Community Spotlight – District 4
District 4 is a combination of a medium sized chapter, a small chapter, and a super small chapter. Surprisingly, the HR issues each chapter’s members deal with are the same, however the inner workings of the chapters themselves and the problems each of the chapter’s faces are different.

Mid-Florida SHRM’s mission is to invest in our members while educating on relevant human resource topics and serving the community. Invest…Educate…Serve
Our chapter is one of the few in the state that has a student chapter (attached is a picture of some student members and their advisor) at Polk State college and because of the success with creating the student chapter we won the 2024 HR Florida Chapter Excellence Award. The award that we won will be invested back into our student chapter by allowing the student members that are on the board get to attend some monthly chapter meetings at no cost.
At our January chapter meeting we also had the pleasure of supporting a local charity, Angels of Destiny Inc., to provide hygiene items for school aged girls.

Lake Sumter SHRM
In February Lake Sumter SHRM hosted it’s membership luncheon that brought the largest crowd in years. Big shout out to Leslie Mizerak from Get Courageous. Her presentation was a huge hit.
